ABOUT 30 students from Life College had their first lesson in environmental appreciation during a recent field trip to the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM).

The trip was part of their research project to observe and report on the country's environmental resources and biological diversity. FRIM officers were on hand to provide the students with input on forest reserve management, eco-maintenance and rehabilitation.
Justin Wong, a multimedia major, was impressed with the Canopy Walk. “It blended perfectly with the natural environment as it was constructed from forest material,” he said. “It's unlike the steel structures found in many other countries which often appear artificial and sanitised.

“There was a breathtaking view from the tree tops but it was terrible to see Kuala Lumpur shrouded in smog, so removed from the pristine freshness in the forest,” he added. Amanda Leong, another business student, agreed that the trip was a good opportunity to foster team spirit and bonding with the new students who had joined the college recently. Most of the programmes offered at Life College has project-based components which inculcate teamwork, good work ethics and nurture values essential to the holistic growth of students.
